This and That

I'm trying to let go of a lot of expectations of perfection and just do things that make me happy.

The sewing machine cover I had made before didn't make me happy so I modified it.

I adore this fabric on the side but I'm never sure what I should do with it. So I put a bit of it in a place I can see more often!

My happy place! I cleaned it up for the photo but I think I should leave it this way!

I also finally tried my hand at making my own bias tape binding. It wasn't as scary as I thought! I think I will make more of my own in the future. I used this helpful tutorial.

I used the tape on this bib made from a towel! This is the best bib ever! My kids can't reach around and pull it off of themselves! It rocks my world. Here is the link to that tutorial.

Baby Steps

This is an exclusive behind the scenes look at my chaos

I bought this book pictured above two years ago while it was still hot off the press. I was very much consumed with other work so I kept putting off and putting off tracing its patterns. It seemed so hard! I didn't want to order MORE fancy (expensive) materials like Swedish tracing paper and all that. It seemed so time consuming to trace it all out.

Well I got brave, bought Freezer paper from the grocery store and traced two patterns I've been dying to try while listening to books on tape (have you read the Thirteenth Tale? IT'S AMAZING!).

Hopefully I'll have some decent dresses when I'm done!

Tulle Time

I got tickets to the ballet to take my older girls and MIL to see the ballerinas. I've had this Oliver + S book for awhile and I've always wanted to make the play tutus in it for my kids. This was the perfect excuse to do so! I had to really play around with the tulle to get the fluffy thickness I wanted (one yard thick is too small for my kids!). I've had some bad experiences with tulle so I was glad these turned out. My girls loved them!

We got to go to a special before the show party to meet the ballerinas! They were so sweet to all the little girls.

I unfortunately couldn't take pictures during the show, but let me assure you they were very good dancers! We had such a good time.

Downton Jammies

So I bought this lovely fabric online, thinking the "castle" would be a smaller print. I was going to make a shirt out of it, but then I decided pants would be better with the bigger prints. I only had enough fabric to make capri jammie pants, but that's okay.

If you thought I couldn't be more nerdy, I just proved you wrong!
